Serían showcases the complexities of unconditional friendship. It’s ‘Waiting for Godot’ in a stuck elevator.
Synopsis:Lia, Mel, Ema and Joy enter an elevator, on route to the funeral of their friend, Ian. The group has been friends for over two decades, dining every Friday together religiously and confessing their darkest secrets to one another. When the elevator stops, their friendship, and individual mortality, is put into question. In the tense panic, the honesty of their connection slowly unravels, and a devastating secret is revealed. The problem is that the only person who has any real answers to the secret, the one who could put them at ease, Ian, is dead.
Core Essence:Is it better to connect superficially and forever? Or be disconnected in honesty? Serían explores the depth and complexities of unconditional friendship.
Theatrical Rendition: Serían is written like a play, so will be performed as a play. As a series of live theater performances with the cast of the film, audiences will experience the film’s tensions in real time. Performed in an intimate setting, the play immerses viewers in the real life characters’ unraveling dynamics—blurring the line between performance and reality as they confront the core question: is truth worth disconnection?
Truth Dinners: Inspired by the film’s ritualistic Friday dinners, Truth Dinners once a week after the film will bring strangers together for a meal where conversation is guided by questions of honesty, connection, and loss. Guests must choose: speak their truth and reveal their secrets, or remain silent in discomfort.
