Our goal as artists is to expand film beyond the screen — into the real, and into community.
Founded by Ambika Subra and Mónica G. Carter, TOCAYA alters the traditional film and production model by telling stories that go beyond the screen into dance, live performance, music, fashion, and art. By connecting the genre of film to a multi-disciplinary system, we develop community simultaneously with narrative.

Tocaya’s philosophy of interconnectedness underpins all of our stories. We operate in the grey-area that exists between poles, between genres, away from categorical echo-chambers. We embrace the discomfort of the unknown, understanding that its a point of universality where cultures intertwine and evolve as an organism.
